Tour Program
Topkapi Palace:
The Topkapi Palace (Topkapi Sarayi) is one of the large palaces in Istanbul, Turkey. The palace was the primary residence of the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years (1465-1856) of its 624-year reign and a setting for state occasions and royal entertainments. Today, it is used as a museum and is a popular destination for tourists. The most important works of the museum, which includes the relics of the Muslim world, are the cloak and sword of Muhammad and also the collection of crystal, silver, and Chinese porcelain products (for more information about Topkapi Palace please take a look at our Blog).
* Please note that the Treasury and Harem sections of Topkapi Palace are not included in the program because of the extra entry.
Hagia Irene:
Built the same period (4th century) as its neighbour Hagia Sophia. The name Hagia Irene means 'Godly' or 'Holy Wisdom' in Greek. After the conquest of Istanbul it was incorporated into the Topkapı Palace this is why it was not converted to a mosque and no dramatic changes in its architecture. (Hagia Irene Church is closed on Thursday).
